Weekend Trip to Changdemini

A very casual itinerary: no sightseeing checklist, no rushing around, just eating good food and taking walks.

Day 1

Saturday, 2025/12/13

Before landing, I could already tell the air in Changde was not great today. Visibility was low.

After checking in at the hotel, I was upgraded to a room with a view because it was the low season and there were not many guests. The spot where the sun set happened to be blocked.

The night view from the room was pretty nice.

I did not leave the hotel today. I ordered delivery: Sexy Tea, spicy braised chicken feet, and pork intestines. Nothing missed. The drinks and food were both good.

The hotel air conditioner, though, really confused me. Since it was central AC and already winter, it could only send out warm air. With the AC off, the room was still 28+°C. Hot 🥵. The front desk could not really do anything, so I had to open the window for ventilation and ask them to send a fan to the room.

Day 2

Sunday, 2025/12/14

I slept in. When I got up and opened the curtains, there was morning mist over the river outside.

The high-rises were in the mist too.

Washed up and had breakfast. I had some milk and eggs, plus a bowl of rice noodles. The taste was fine, but not amazing.

I lay on the sofa for a bit. Very relaxed.

Close to noon, I checked out and went looking for lunch. I went to Lin Jia Huo Fu Shimen Changzi Guan and ordered their signature pork intestine hot pot. Rice and tea were free.

The portion was huge, and it tasted great. I could not finish it. Truly impossible to finish. The fermented bean curd was good too, perfect with rice.

After lunch, I walked toward Qili Bridge for a stroll.

Ziyuan Bridge

This stretch of water is part of Liuye Lake.

Qili Bridge

Across the water is German Town. Although I have not been to Europe yet, at first glance it did have a bit of a European feel.

The kid on the swing left, so I had a little swing too 😊.

Wandering around Xiaohe Street.

...

The restaurants here are interesting. Many of them have layouts with an old-architecture style, elegant and refined.

Golden sunshine, warm and gentle.

So laid-back!

An outdoor football match was on. Team Changde had just scored, and I was drawn over by the cheers.

German Town

Before I knew it, evening had arrived.

I went back to the restaurant where I had lunch. For dinner, I ordered sliced pork in chili oil. The portion was still very generous, but personally I did not think this dish was very good.

After dinner, I took the bus to the airport. Time to head back.
